Lausanne is nestled against a breathtaking backdrop which includes Lake Geneva – the biggest lake in Western Europe – and the majestic beauty of the Alps. The Lavaux wine region, a UNESCO world heritage site with grapevines that cascade down the hills to the very edge of the lake, it is only ten minutes away from the city. Access

Located only 45 minutes by car or train from the international airport in Geneva (Cointrin), Lausanne is centrally accessible via all of the main methods of transportation in Switzerland and Europe. Several trains leave for Lausanne every hour from all major Swiss cities, and even more remote areas benefit from easy connections. Look here for a detailed description of the access options.

SwissTech Convention Center

The conference will take place at the SwissTech Convention Center, located at the campus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL).

Access

The SwissTech Convention Center can be best reached by the metro M1: From the city center of Lausanne it takes 10 minutes to reach the SwissTech Convention Center and from the Renens train station 5 minutes. If you are staying in accommodation that pays the overnight tourist tax, you can freely use public transport (bus, train, metro) during your whole stay (maximum 15 days) in Lausanne and its surroundings with your Lausanne Transport Card. The Convention Center also accommodates a large car park, which is paid.

Lausanne is closest to the international airport in Geneva (GVA), which is only a 50 min train ride away. Also, the airport in Zurich (ZRH) can be reached within 2 h 40 min. In both locations the trains station is within the airport. Lausanne is also very well reachable by train from many European cities, either during the day (e.g. Milano (Italy): 3:30h, Genova (Italy): 6h, Venice (Italy): 7h, Paris (France): 4h, Grenoble (France): 2:50h, Innsbruck (Austria): 6h, Vienna (Austria): 10:30h, Berlin (Germany): 10:20h) or using overnight trains (e.g. Zagreb (Croatia) to Zürich, see more information here).
